Fruits of the Spirit Worship Series
By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. And those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25
In this series- which is designed to be used over 9 to 10 weeks of the summer but could be used in any season- explore each of the "fruits" of the Spirit through stories from Luke's gospel. If you follow the Narrative Lectionary, this series will take you back to some of the episodes that you skipped in Year 3 of the cycle.
Exploring the different expressions of spiritual fruit is a great opportunity to talk about spiritual practices. How do we cultivate joy? How do we grow in patience? How do we express faithfulness? These qualities do not just appear in our lives because we believe. But with prayer, intention, and the support of a faith community, we will find new depth and meaning in seeking a fruitful life. This series should be fun, colorful, and engaging for all ages!
I'm offering use of these materials for free- modify as it works for your congregation, but please give me credit in your bulletin and/or worship slides.
